Southwest Vibes

Yesterday we saw Albuquerque for the first time and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The energy out here is very different. It reminds me a little of California but definitely not the same. I love how open it is out here, yet there are still mountains. We got to hang out with friends, go to dinner and see some of the city. The part that we saw had a very artsy 50’s feel to it. You could almost imagine all the classic muscle cars cruising down the strip.

Life is interesting, especially now. Running a dog walking business can be certainly unpredictable, however, for the most part we had a routine and usually knew what to expect. The way we live now, you just never know. Sometimes it can be terrifying, but it can also be incredible wonderful. I feel more alive and this is exactly what I was wanting.

I love traveling because we get to not only meet new people, but also see friends whom we haven’t seen in a long time. I love being able to explore new places. We definitely want to see more of Albuquerque, check out the white sands, and go hiking. I am really enjoying the lack of humidity out here. I’ve been looking forward to this ever since we hit the road. The mountains definitely make us happy. We haven’t been around the mountains since we have lived in Colorado. Despite how desolate the town we are currently at is, I am excited to explore the surrounding areas. So far I am digging the southwest vibes 🙂

Missouri to New Mexico

Comments 2 Standard

Well, we made it. We are currently in a small town about an hour outside of Albuquerque, NM. We wanted to be closer to Albuquerque, however, due to the hot air balloon festival, there were not many options. I am excited to see the hot air balloons in October though.

We left Missouri and stayed in Kansas for a night, then headed to Amarillo, Texas. The entire road trip from Missouri to New Mexico was really smooth. Most of the land was very flat. We finally figured out how to keep our cat Thor calm and happy during our travel days. We setup a basket for him to sleep in up front with us. I think that makes him feel safe.

The area we are in is pretty desolate. We pulled up to the RV park and the lot was almost empty, so the lady at the front desk let us pick our spot. That was a first for us. The rent here is cheap which is nice, however, it is rather noisy here due to a train. AT&T works great here, but our Verizon hotspot is no good. The weather during the day will be in the 70’s which is awesome! BUT! It gets into the 40’s at night. We knew that going into this, but it has been a while since we have had to use our heater.

There is a mountain range near us which we look forward to hiking. Today we will probably drive around town to see what there is here. Our goal here is to make more YouTube videos and continue to teach. August and the beginning of September have been slow for us, so hopefully things pick up. This new chapter of our journey is all about going deeper into the unknown. We both have never explored the Southwest, so this should be interesting.

Three Years Married, Four Months on the Road

Leave a comment Standard

Yesterday was our three year anniversary. We have been married for three years and have known each other for almost five years. Adventure is what brought us together and after selling our dog walking business, adventure is what we returned to.

Being married and running a small dog walking business have taught me a lot about commitment. In marriage, when you have an issue, you don’t just run away from it – you work through it. You learn, grow and change. With a business, even if you wake up to a disaster – you still got to show up and make the best of it. I thought that when I would hit 30, I would be a successful artist. That was not the case haha. I have not given up on that, but something else amazing happened and that was getting married. I’ve always wanted to be with someone to share my life with, to be goofy with and to be adventurous with. I have that. I have love and I’m grateful for it.

I’m learning that marriage has a lot to do with forgiveness and acceptance. Issues will always arise in any type of relationship. How do you deal with them? Do you ignore them? Do you point them out, but don’t do anything about it? I find that being married takes me to deeper levels of acceptance and working with the energy of forgiveness. Sometimes we end up on different pages and I think it is important to always bring your marriage back into present time.

What I love most about our relationship is that we are both willing to grow together. I love that we are both adventurous and have an affinity for new experiences. I remember watching the film “Into the Wild.” It’s a sad, but very beautiful story about a young man leaving behind everything that is familiar and embracing the unknown. At the end of his journey, he realizes that happiness isn’t real unless shared. I don’t necessarily believe that because I have been alone and happy before, but I certainly understand what he was saying because I prefer sharing life with someone. I would rather go on an adventure with my wife and share that happiness.

We have been on the road for almost 4.5 months. We have had some really great experiences so far, but it has not been easy. We have a lot more growing to do. Sometimes I do have to remind myself though, we are pretty damn lucky. From the moment we sold our business and all the way until now, we have got to go on some pretty cool adventures. Yesterday we were riding four-wheelers and went knee boarding and water tubing. I love my life and can’t wait to see what is next, but the best part about is that I get to do it with my best friend, lover and partner in crime 🙂

Four Months on the Road

Comment 1 Standard

Well we have officially been on the road for four months. I think most people thought by now we would have given up traveling full-time and growing our new business. I have to admit, the journey so far has not been entirely smooth sailing, but we are still here doing our thing and that is what is important. Most people our age are settling down and working for someone else. We are the black sheep living in a RV, traveling full-time and growing a new business. It is not an easy combination, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

There many things in this new life that I have not anticipated. Towing an RV can be stressful, but it is not as scary as I thought it was going to be. Sure living in a small space can be frustrating sometimes, but it really isn’t that bad. You will have those moments where you are hitting your head on something and screaming profanity, but most of the time it’s not a big deal. I’m not a huge fan of small towns and that is exactly where most of the RV parks are located, especially the cheaper campgrounds. I love rent being cheap, but sometimes I wish we could be closer to major cities. That’s where the money and entertainment is at. So while we do have a lot of freedom, sometimes I feel a little limited by having our fifth wheel.

If you are stationary and have a great internet package – be grateful for it. Wireless internet is certainly not as bad as I thought. It’s actually pretty decent, however, it is VERY easy to burn through data. Wireless internet is also not exactly cheap. Something I really love about having an RV is if you don’t like a place or if things are just not working out, you can pack up and move on. We are not stuck with a mortgage or a lease, so that provides a lot of freedom and flexibility for us.

We have learned that we only want to stay in one place no longer than a month. It’s cost efficient and it gives us enough time to see what we want to see. Any longer than that, I start getting antsy. I personally thrive when I’m having new experiences. That is when my creativity and inspiration are at their peak. That is the biggest reason I love what we are doing. Creativity is so important to me and new experiences fuel it. The more experiences I have the more I have to write about.

Sure there are cons to what we are doing. There are cons to anything in life, but I love traveling. I love being self employed. I look forward to heading west and stepping out of this humidity. I look forward to exploring the southwest, seeing new places and meeting new people. I haven’t spent much time in the desert so that will be a brand new experience. For the most part, on our four month journey, we have been to most of the places we have traveled to, so going southwest will be pretty cool. It is an area I have not taken the time to explore.

As long as a place is new and / or there are really cool landmarks nearby I’m all about it. That makes it easy to overlook parking in a small town. Currently we are parked in Missouri visiting family. I’m struggling a little bit because of how isolated we are. Farm life isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I’m more of a beach guy. I’ve mentioned this before, I love big cities, but it was interesting visiting Chicago. I love that city and have many great experiences there, however, I feel like I’m pretty much done with that city. I feel like I’ve been done with it for quite some time. It’s not to say I will never visit again, but for the most part Chicago and I have reached our expiration date.

We have exactly two weeks and we will be moving again. One thing I plan on utilizing is that fact that I can sing and scream as loud as I want and I don’t have to worry about pissing anyone off. That isn’t something I really like about here. We have a few trips / activities lined up here and then it is back on the road we go.

Check out our YouTube channel, we are uploading a lot of new yoga and meditation videos!

A new adventure

Leave a comment Standard

Today we are getting prepared to leave Illinois. I am excited to be moving on, but I am sad at the same time. Heather and I didn’t really know the impact we were having on our students and friends until these last few days. I’m glad we came here to teach and I am excited to see what is next for us!

I’ve gained a lot of clarity and certainty about the decision that we have made. I truly love traveling and teaching. It just feels right. After this experience in the outskirts of Chicago, I feel more confident. I’m ready for a new adventure. I’m ready to teach more.

Something I learned while we were here is that it is really important to choose your truth and your dreams. Wake up calls will come in waves, but it is truly up to you to get on one of them and ride it to your destiny. I’ve worked many different types of jobs since I was 14, I’ve been financially secure, I’ve been homeless, I’ve experienced success, I’ve experienced failure and relationships have come and gone. What I’m finding is that my happiness has a direct connection with the decisions I make in life. When I make a decision, wether it is to take action or to not take action – am I being true to myself? If I am, I know I will find happiness. If I am not, I know I will be met with regret. For me, that is something I can not live with. I am fully aware that I have a mission that goes beyond being a husband and maybe even being a father. There is so much I want to do this life, but to keep it simple, it’s travel, teaching and music. I want to heal myself through teaching meditation. I want to help others heal and discover themselves through teaching. I want to heal myself through music. I want to entertain. I want to see the world. I was born to inspire, born to show people that it is okay to be yourself, that it is okay to dream big.

I have so much work to do, but I am excited. I’m excited because I choose my truth. I know that will lead me to where I want to be. There will be more growth periods, more growing pains, but in the end it is all worth it. I believe in taking risks. I’m sure glad we took the risk with teaching and traveling.

The company that you work for has a mission statement. I have to ask you though, what is your own personal mission statement? Why are you here? What do you want to experience this life? Why do you want to experience these dreams? What will you learn?

Hello Dreams

Leave a comment Standard

Well, we are leaving Illinois a month early. Business has been slow this month, so we are going to move on. This is the benefit of having a house on wheels!

In less than a week we will be heading to Missouri. In a way we will be doing a reset. We have been on the road for four months, so we want to take the time to do some maintenance on our RV. Also we have learned a lot since we started traveling full-time. We have learned that we only want to stay in one place no longer than a month. It is more cost efficient to stay at a RV park for a month, but going any longer than that we tend to get bored. We have learned how to setup and breakdown our RV more quickly. Moving forward I believe we will be focusing on our online content and doing workshops.

I had some workshops lined up here that I was excited about teaching but had to cancel. I’m sad that I won’t be teaching them, but there will be plenty of more opportunities in our journey ahead. After we leave Missouri we will be heading southwest. Normally we don’t like to plan, but we actually just planned out the remainder of 2018. I have been finding it difficult to find campgrounds in the south because places are already getting booked up by most RVers who want to avoid the cold like us – haha!

Teaching clairvoyance and living on the road has been a roller coaster ride for me. I have been learning and growing so much that I don’t feel like the same person when we first started this adventure in May. With each external discovery there is an internal discovery. I look forward to heading south because everything will be new, but I also look forward to it because of what I will discover within myself. Seeing new places and meeting new people is always exciting, but also going a little deeper into my identity is exciting as well. Teaching and traveling is what brings me to my bones. It is a constant state of becoming more present and learning. I’m becoming more comfortable with the unknown. It allows me to be more in the now. I have no idea what the next few months are going to be like and that is okay. What I do sense is that Heather is going to be moving towards modeling and I’m going to be moving towards music. Together, through our love of teaching and traveling, we are getting back in touch with our dreams.

What dreams are you reconnecting with?

Moving Day

Leave a comment Standard

Today is moving day. I’m always conflicted about moving because a part of me is excited and another part of me gets stressed out – haha. Actually today we are not moving very far. We will still be residing just outside of Chicago. We have already seen our new campground and t is really nice, but the only thing I am not looking froward to is how close all the RVs are to one another. At our current camp site we have a lot of space – it’s nice! One really cool thing though is that at the new RV park we will be just a few feet from a small lake. I love being near water, so that makes me happy. Being at our new campground will make things easier for us because we can walk to the yoga studio we teach at. We are also closer to grocery stores and gas stations.

We have two months left in Illinois. After that we will continue heading west. We know Missouri is our next stop, but after that we don’t know. Most likely we will end up in the southwest to avoid the cold weather during fall / winter. Although I have seen parts of the Grand Canyon, exploring the southwest will be pretty much a new experience for me.

Speaking of new experiences, yesterday we went to a car show yesterday which was fun. Got to meet a lot of cool people. The did a cruise around the town so I was able to get some good footage of it. Today is the second day of the show, but because we have to pack up and move, I’m not sure how much of the show we will even be able to see. I posted just a few pictures on our facebook page and will be posting the video soon from yesterday so go ahead and check out YouTube channel in the next few days.
