Four Months on the Road

Comment 1 Standard

Well we have officially been on the road for four months. I think most people thought by now we would have given up traveling full-time and growing our new business. I have to admit, the journey so far has not been entirely smooth sailing, but we are still here doing our thing and that is what is important. Most people our age are settling down and working for someone else. We are the black sheep living in a RV, traveling full-time and growing a new business. It is not an easy combination, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

There many things in this new life that I have not anticipated. Towing an RV can be stressful, but it is not as scary as I thought it was going to be. Sure living in a small space can be frustrating sometimes, but it really isn’t that bad. You will have those moments where you are hitting your head on something and screaming profanity, but most of the time it’s not a big deal. I’m not a huge fan of small towns and that is exactly where most of the RV parks are located, especially the cheaper campgrounds. I love rent being cheap, but sometimes I wish we could be closer to major cities. That’s where the money and entertainment is at. So while we do have a lot of freedom, sometimes I feel a little limited by having our fifth wheel.

If you are stationary and have a great internet package – be grateful for it. Wireless internet is certainly not as bad as I thought. It’s actually pretty decent, however, it is VERY easy to burn through data. Wireless internet is also not exactly cheap. Something I really love about having an RV is if you don’t like a place or if things are just not working out, you can pack up and move on. We are not stuck with a mortgage or a lease, so that provides a lot of freedom and flexibility for us.

We have learned that we only want to stay in one place no longer than a month. It’s cost efficient and it gives us enough time to see what we want to see. Any longer than that, I start getting antsy. I personally thrive when I’m having new experiences. That is when my creativity and inspiration are at their peak. That is the biggest reason I love what we are doing. Creativity is so important to me and new experiences fuel it. The more experiences I have the more I have to write about.

Sure there are cons to what we are doing. There are cons to anything in life, but I love traveling. I love being self employed. I look forward to heading west and stepping out of this humidity. I look forward to exploring the southwest, seeing new places and meeting new people. I haven’t spent much time in the desert so that will be a brand new experience. For the most part, on our four month journey, we have been to most of the places we have traveled to, so going southwest will be pretty cool. It is an area I have not taken the time to explore.

As long as a place is new and / or there are really cool landmarks nearby I’m all about it. That makes it easy to overlook parking in a small town. Currently we are parked in Missouri visiting family. I’m struggling a little bit because of how isolated we are. Farm life isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I’m more of a beach guy. I’ve mentioned this before, I love big cities, but it was interesting visiting Chicago. I love that city and have many great experiences there, however, I feel like I’m pretty much done with that city. I feel like I’ve been done with it for quite some time. It’s not to say I will never visit again, but for the most part Chicago and I have reached our expiration date.

We have exactly two weeks and we will be moving again. One thing I plan on utilizing is that fact that I can sing and scream as loud as I want and I don’t have to worry about pissing anyone off. That isn’t something I really like about here. We have a few trips / activities lined up here and then it is back on the road we go.

Check out our YouTube channel, we are uploading a lot of new yoga and meditation videos!

Moving Day

Leave a comment Standard

Today is moving day. I’m always conflicted about moving because a part of me is excited and another part of me gets stressed out – haha. Actually today we are not moving very far. We will still be residing just outside of Chicago. We have already seen our new campground and t is really nice, but the only thing I am not looking froward to is how close all the RVs are to one another. At our current camp site we have a lot of space – it’s nice! One really cool thing though is that at the new RV park we will be just a few feet from a small lake. I love being near water, so that makes me happy. Being at our new campground will make things easier for us because we can walk to the yoga studio we teach at. We are also closer to grocery stores and gas stations.

We have two months left in Illinois. After that we will continue heading west. We know Missouri is our next stop, but after that we don’t know. Most likely we will end up in the southwest to avoid the cold weather during fall / winter. Although I have seen parts of the Grand Canyon, exploring the southwest will be pretty much a new experience for me.

Speaking of new experiences, yesterday we went to a car show yesterday which was fun. Got to meet a lot of cool people. The did a cruise around the town so I was able to get some good footage of it. Today is the second day of the show, but because we have to pack up and move, I’m not sure how much of the show we will even be able to see. I posted just a few pictures on our facebook page and will be posting the video soon from yesterday so go ahead and check out YouTube channel in the next few days.

Enjoying the Unknown

Leave a comment Standard

Do I miss having a dishwasher? Yes. Do I miss having a large comfortable couch? Yes. Do I miss having hot water available immediately? Absolutely. Do I miss having faster and more reliable internet? Yup! Do I wish I had more space sometimes? Most definitely! Do I miss spending almost $1400 in rent every month? Not really…

Despite there being certain things that I miss about having an apartment, I wouldn’t trade it in for what we currently have. We have freedom. Now if we were making an incredible amount of money, maybe I would want to have an apartment, an art studio and travel to and from there. Right now we are not making a ton of money, so that really isn’t a realistic option. Once we ended our dog walking business, we have had to start over. New business. New life.

The problem is I get bored easily. I don’t like staying in one area for too long. I get antsy. Traveling in a RV is a great solution for this. Maybe one day we eventually have a house and travel from that or maybe we just always live out of a RV. Maybe we end up just finding a really cool place that we park our RV at for longer periods of time and then always travel from that area. If I could find a place that is pretty much always warm and has a music studio – then hell yeah. That could work.

The problem with a home is a mortgage. I’m not interested. The problem with an apartment is they make you sign 12-13 month leases. Not really into that either. That is why traveling in a RV full-time works so well right now. Will it work forever? There is a strong possibility that it may. I feel like we could have millions and we would still end up just getting a nice toy hauler RV and having a small music studio in it. That would be freaking amazing! But, as we all know, life changes. We don’t know what will happen in the future, but that is exactly what we are enjoying now – the unknown.

Opportunity

Leave a comment Standard

Where there was resistance, struggle and limitation, I now see opportunity – I see doors opening.

I don’t like the word no. I don’t like the phrase, “you can’t.” They don’t sit well with me, because I know if I keep going, if I keep blasting the drum like the energizer bunny, I will eventually find my way.

When you walk a cleared path, a path that others have walked down, there is clarity and ease. When you walk down a path not many have gone or create your own path, there is a great deal of uncertainty. You are walking blind with your faith like fire burning upon your head. The various levels of your intuition are the tools in your tool belt you pull from. Trust becomes like air or food – a necessity for your survival.

I like surprise, spontaneity, growth, change and transformation. They are the energies that push the boredom out of my body and provide permission for me to be present.

Living in a RV to travel full time is one hell of a growth period. Towing, leveling, fixing leaks, building an audience, finding students, finding campgrounds, editing, and so on…

I love it, but it has been an adjustment. I wouldn’t have it any other way now though. Being able to see new places and have new experiences is entirely worth it. I love the challenge of building a new brand from nothing. The energy I bring to this brand is limitless. This is everything I’ve wanted to create. To be able to travel with my wife and pets, to teach and to express myself creatively. I don’t care if its through writing, music, comedy, film or all of the above. Our youtube channel and blog have given me a way to put myself out there. I’m just going to keep going until all the doors are open.

Teaching Clairvoyance

Leave a comment Standard

I can feel it. It’s familiar – the accelerated growth. I experienced it while going through all my trainings in Chicago and I feel again now. I’m teaching clairvoyance again and it feels great. Sure, the growing pains have already begun, but overall it’s a very exciting time. I love teaching. I like how it impacts me and how it impacts my students. I have a very high affinity for growth and that is exactly the theme these days.

Clairvoyance is the ability to see clearly. It’s your ability to see yourself, the world and others with clarity and even neutrality. Clairvoyance is all about stepping out of judgment and seeing things for as they are, not as they should be. Getting a reading from a clairvoyant can be validating because the goal for them is to find your energy in the various aspects of your life. It can be such a great feeling when someone acknowledges aspects of your identity or even various dreams you have. There may be times you are just going through a rough time and if you were to get a reading, a clairvoyant may say, “hey, I see you are going through this or I see you handling this energy,” but they don’t make the entire reading about what is wrong with you, the clairvoyant goes on and looks behind all of that and finds that persons unique energy. They find the light amongst the darkness. That is how a reading can be healing. Comedians are great at this. They are honest and they are real, but they always find the light in the dark. They find the amusement.

Sometimes saying hello to someone, without judging them can be very healing. To have someone recognize what makes you unique and not scrutinize it, can be very validating. With clairvoyance, you can see everything. Sometimes the energy is so thick you just have to work through it. Sometimes it is just a matter of saying hello the dark, moving it aside and finding the light that was always there.

Lyme Disease

Leave a comment Standard

It’s an oh shit moment when you see the bullseye mark on your skin. Part of you hopes its just a rash, but another part of you knows what it is. When you visit the doctor they automatically give you antibiotics. Apparently the sooner you get medicine in your system the better. A week after I was in the woods shooting a video, I noticed the bullseye and started to feel sick. Once that happened I setup an appointment and got it checked out, however, they made me wait a few weeks to get blood work done, but when I finally got the results, I wasn’t surprised.

Even after the taking antibiotics for three weeks, I still noticed occasional stiff necks / headaches. I was irritated by it because I thought I was in the clear of experiencing symptoms due to seeing a doctor really soon. I ended up going back to the doctor to see what was going on. They did more blood work and it didn’t show that I was bite a second time. The doctor didn’t seem to think the symptoms were from the lyme disease, so I thought maybe I should go to the chiropractor to get adjusted. I have two problem areas along my spine that always seem to go out that need adjusted, but it’s nothing major.

Around the same time of getting adjusted I decided to do a seven day cleanse. It kicked my ass. The first few days were pretty rough. Aside from visiting the bathroom frequently, I was feeling very drained and even got a fever. Towards the end of the week, I was starting to feel much better, but I didn’t know if I was feeling better because of the cleanse working or because I just was no longer feeling shitty. It’s tough to tell, but I think it worked and the reason I believe that is because I don’t experience the stiff neck / headache combination anymore. Sure I get occasional headaches, but not like the unique symptoms of lyme.

So, did the symptoms of lyme just naturally go away over time? Did the chiropractic adjustment do the trick? Or was it the seven day cleanse that kicked the symptoms? I don’t know, but maybe it was combination of them all. I’ve heard that people who have lyme do some sort of cleanse to clear out various toxins and reboot their system. Again, I don’t know – I’m not an expert in the medical field. What I do know is, is that I hope the symptoms never return and I hope I never get a tick bite again!

Permission to Fail, Permission to Succeed

Comments 2 Standard

Do you have permission to fail? We often think that failure is this terrible thing and sure, it doesn’t always feel good, but something to remember is that it can be a stepping stone to where you are trying to go.

When you don’t have permission to fail it can be very difficult to take a risk. When you take a risk you enter the unknown. You don’t know if you are going to fail or succeed, however, if you do end up failing, it is not the end of the world. Actually, you have an opportunity to grow and learn from the experience. You then can use that information and apply it to your next step.

I have failed many times. The beginning is the worst. Failing your first few times is kind of like when you first experience a breakup. It feels like everything is over and you will never find love again and the sun will never shine as bright as it once did. Over time you learn that, sure, going through a breakup sucks, but its not the end of the world. You heal and then you move on. It is similar with failing. You fall off the bike, it hurts, you get back on the bike and go some more, you fall and repeat. The goal isn’t to just continue failing forever, but without being able to fail at all, it may keep you from even making a move on your dream.

What about permission to succeed? Is it okay to be seen? It it okay to be heard? It is okay to achieve goals? What if most people around you aren’t able to find success? How does that affect you? Would they give you permission to succeed? Maybe, maybe not. So where do you get permission from? What about you? If there is nobody around that is willing to give you permission to fail, to take risks or to succeed – maybe it is time to believe in yourself and give yourself permission.

Everyone has their own shit to deal with. Perhaps it is time to just strap on the right tool belt for you and get to work. You are not special and life is definitely not fair. I’ve learned this the hard way. Life can be as beautiful as a sunset and harsh as the cold air of winter. Grab your tools and create the life you desire, because in the end, nobody else is going to do it for you, but really – would you want them to?
