Traveling & Making Money Online

Leave a comment Standard

Most people tend to full-time RV when they are retired. Not us. What really helped propel us into this new life style is our passion for adventure and of course selling our dog walking business. No we are not rich, not even close. Hell, we don’t even have a savings. Yes, we have a new business, but we only make a little money from that. Some months for Souls Gone Wild are really good and others are not. That is just the truth at the moment. What allows us to keep on moving are our other jobs.

My wife and I both teach English online. Heather teaches Chinese children through the platform called VIPKID. I teach on Cambly which allows me to meet people from all around the world. To boil it down, I basically get paid to talk and listen. It is simple and I love it. I log online and wait for incoming calls. Most people want to just talk and some want to go over specific English lessons. When I am not taking a call, I try to relax, edit our youtube videos or work on a blog. What is great about our jobs is that we are both self employed. We can create our own work schedule which works really well when we have travel or adventure days. While these jobs provide a lot of freedom and we enjoy them, they are still jobs. They keep us on the road, but eventually we would love for our youtube channel and blog to take off.

I was really hoping for a smooth transition from our dog walking business to teaching yoga & meditation. It has not been that easy. We have had some awesome months and some difficult months. But, we are still here… in the middle of a desert – haha! We love traveling and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else than where we are now. I love traveling full-time. I love the fact that this winter we are not going to have to just deal with the cold. As a matter of fact, we will be in southern California where I greatly look forward to riding four-wheelers out in the sand dunes. Fuck yeah!

The goal is to keep traveling and teaching English, yoga and meditation. We don’t really have a “plan” and that is what is such a relief. We are really learning as we go. With that, I have to ask – what are you current goals? What are you currently learning in life?

Andrew

The only thing between you and your dreams is ENERGY.

Leave a comment Standard

Yesterday I turned 34. Being in my thirties is very interesting because it is a time in which our society believes that you should have your life together. If you don’t have your life together, you are a failure. If you have not achieved your dream you might as well give up and get a “real job.” If you are doing what you want by this age, then good for you. That is the overall energy I felt once I hit my early thirties.

Well, I have created a small business with my wife and sold the client list. We are now traveling full-time in a RV. These are two dreams that have come to fruition in my early thirties. I feel good about this, but I am failing still as an artist. This is hard for me, because becoming a successful artist is my ultimate goal.

Performing in front of thousands of people, starting my own clothing line, writing a best selling novel, making movies – the list goes on. It all sounds crazy and perhaps impossible, but these are my dreams as an artist and entrepreneur. Big dreams take time and I am willing to be patient.

My life is so different now. My wife and I travel around the United States, typically staying in one place for a month at a time. We both teach English online which is what allows us to keep traveling. We all also do workshops at yoga studios and I do readings over the phone. It is taking longer than I anticipated in regards to growing our new business. Luckily we can both teach English online. I love it because I get to meet people from all over the world, help them with their English and learn new things about their culture.

I’ve always known that I was a late bloomer. It is why I am not afraid of getting older. I know I will achieve all my dreams. The key for me is letting go of the societal expectations that create that feeling of failure. Aside from that the big component is staying persistent; practicing music, writing, making films, etc.

Anytime I go to pursue a bigger goal I am always met with doubt, but I can always rely on my growing confidence and self belief. Every wall I break through, I use that strength I gained to battle through the next wall. The only thing between myself and my dreams is energy. I know how to move energy. I have and will continue to move it out of my way. Dreams are possible. We have seen many people live their dreams. If you believe dreams are impossible, that is where you are stuck. That will greatly limit you. Dreams are beautiful because it is a time in which you can shine. Dreams allow the spirit to be engaged.

Where are you in your life? What is your next step to reeling in your dream? #makeithappen

Showing Up

Leave a comment Standard

Between the both of us, we have classes and events at four different spaces. We are having success… But that does not come without failure. There have been classes that we created where people are not showing up. And there are numerous reasons for that; time of day, people on vacation, we are new, etc. But the important thing here is that even though we have the feeling nobody is coming, we still show up.

Showing up every time is us being committed. Even though it can be discouraging when nobody arrives, we leave knowing we did not give up. Last night there was a class in which people usually do not show up for, but this time someone did. Sometimes it is just a matter of patience.

After leaving the studio last night and arriving at our campground, I had an epiphany. I’m a traveling psychic. I often don’t like using the word “psychic” because of the negative energy attached to it, but that is what I am. I love traveling and I love teaching. Making money is validating, but making money doing something you love – that is personal power. Being compensated for just being YOU. That to me is very much a dream.

What I love most about teaching meditation is watching others learn and grow. The whole point of what I teach is for students to hit a wall and then breakthrough. People don’t come to me if they are not interested in change. Students come to me because they know there is something more, but don’t know how to obtain it or get there. Sometimes we just need some tools to help us move forward on our path.

Last night we were talking about traveling in our RV and I was asked, “what are you seeking?” I know myself very well. I know my dreams. I would have to meditate more on what I am seeking currently, but simply off the top of my head, I am seeking new experiences. I am on the road to teach, see new places, try new things and to meet new people. Ultimately though, what I seek the most through all of this, is for me to show up. To be more present. That is what I seek.

Andrew

Social Media

I have experimented in the past with taking breaks from social media. It’s nice. I’m starting to feel it is time to do that again. But, um, Andrew… you are in the process of building your brand USING social media.

This is very true. I won’t be really stepping away from social media, but I will be stepping away from my personal accounts. I will still be actively posting on our business accounts. It’s just too much having both. I catch myself just scrolling through the various platforms and wasting a lot of time. Time is important to me. That is time I could be resting, meditating, going for a walk, reading a book…

I love social media. It makes it easier to connect. But, it is also a lot of noise. Noise I just don’t have time for now. Teaching, making videos, photography, practicing vocals, setting up events for Souls Gone Wild, focusing on my health – that is where I need more of my energy at.

I have created a new daily routine for myself and in some ways I am having success and in other ways I’m failing miserably – haha. I’m committed though. It’s going to take me some time to breakthrough and make this work and I’m okay with that. Most of my life I have been a night owl. I remember in college I got most of my writing done late at night when most people were out partying. As I get older though I like the idea of waking up early before most people and getting a bunch of tasks accomplished. I’ve noticed that if I push things off for later in the day, I usually won’t get to it.

I have a love /  hate relationship with technology, the internet and social media. It can be very helpful but also time wasting and addictive. So as far as my personal accounts go, I’m stepping away. Phew! I feel better already. Souls Gone Wild will still be on social media. The blogs, the pictures, videos and events will still be shared 🙂

Being Wild

Comments 2 Standard

There tends to be a lot of fear around traveling for people. It’s not that I don’t experience fear, it’s just that my affinity usually drowns out the anxiety. Since I left my hometown in 2006, I have moved around the United States a lot and from my travels and short experience living in a RV, I find that most people I come across are kind. I reached out to a few places to see if there was an opportunity to offer my services and to teach in their space. There were two places that were interested and then it was just a matter of showing up and meeting in person. It is really refreshing how welcoming people can be. It makes me even more excited for all the people that I will get to meet on our adventures!

Things are unfolding for us as teachers and for our new brand. The transition from our old business to our new business has been terrifying and exhilarating. This is still just the beginning, but I am happy with where we are at. I am also happy with where we are headed, despite not knowing how it all will unfold.

I’m uncomfortable, but I’m happy. Learning to do yoga is helping me open up. Teaching meditation is helping me open up. I’m very uncomfortable, but I’m getting comfortable with that. I don’t care if I make mistakes. I do care if I am learning. For me, magic is not in the very well planned out life. Magic is in the moment. The other day I came home from a yoga class and I was listening to music. I got inspired to just stand out by the field we are parked near and watch the sun set. I felt very present, like nothing else mattered except that moment. It’s relief to not give a shit with what happened in the past or what I may be anxious about in the future. That is what I love and what I live for.

We created Souls Gone Wild because we love to teach and to travel. At the end of my life, I won’t be counting all the things that I bought, I will be remembering all the amazing experiences I had. I will remember the people that touched my life and the lives that I impacted. Being wild is about embracing your freedom, whatever freedom means for you. For me, being wild is not about getting drunk or high and being reckless. For us, it means to travel and to have new experiences. From teaching a workshop, to hanging 300 feet in the air or just standing by a field, present and aware in my body. This is what it means for me to be wild at the moment, but I do believe that as we continue this journey, things will just get crazier. Check out our youtube channel and follow our journey!

Green is for Growth

Comments 2 Standard

We had a lot of help with starting our dog walking business. We also had a lot of help when selling our business. Building Souls Gone Wild is a completely different experience. We are on our own. Everything is new; living and traveling out of a RV, teaching workshops on the road and teaching online.

Despite the fear I feel, I am happy and excited. We are getting better at breaking down, setting up and towing our RV. We are seeing new places and new people. We are putting ourselves out there to create opportunities. I am more out of my comfort zone than in it and that is okay. I am learning, growing, changing and healing.

For the most part, we are constantly in a state of not knowing. I know that we will continue growing as nomadic teachers, but I have no idea how everything is going to unfold. We were suppose to be in Massachusetts, but here we are in Illinois. Things change. We adapt and improvise.

Even though it can be scary not knowing how everything is going to play out, I like it better than everything being planned out. That is a quick way for me to get stuck in boredom. When I am bored, I’m not inspired. When I’m not inspired, I’m not creative. I like being on the road, I like movement.

I’m very curious to see how everything will turn out in Illinois. I think our business is going to have a growth spike while we are here. All I know is that I just want to teach as much as possible and do as many readings as I can. I’m here to make money, learn more and to help people find their truth. It’s the strangest thing, but most people we come across these days, we discover that they have a dream of traveling the country. Some are waiting to do it and others feel the opportunity has passed them.

Even though we are starting over and building a new business, I feel lucky to be traveling. I don’t feel like I am running away, I feel like I am living.

Andrew

Non-Competition

Leave a comment Standard

Competition is inevitable. We live in a competitive world. You will especially experience competition when you are being seen, being heard and having success. People will want what you have or may just feel threatened by you and begin competing with you. At this point in my life I find competition amusing. Why? Because I just don’t care. I understand that competition exists, but that doesn’t mean I have to be IN competition with others. You have a nicer RV than us? Great, I don’t care. You have a diesel truck? Great, I don’t care. You’re business is more successful than ours? Great, I just don’t care. My focus is on myself and what we have. Sure, when I start a business I take a look at all the competition out there. It helps give me an idea how I should set my rates, but other than that, I put it out of my mind. I don’t wake up thinking, I must be better than them! I wake up motivated thinking, I hope to be better than I was the day before.

Competition and jealousy are things I am just not interested in. Sure I am human, but I strive to be inspired instead. I love non-competition. Being in competition just seems like too much wasted energy. I believe in abundance and I believe in possibility. Something that stops  a lot of people from pursuing their dreams is this notion that there are too many people doing it already, so why bother? If you have that mentality, then you probably won’t get anywhere. Just because there are five dog walking businesses already in the area, doesn’t mean you will never get your own clients. Just because there are a bunch of healing centers or yoga and mediation teachers in the world doesn’t mean you can’t teach or start your own practice.

You’re on the high dive. You’re thinking too much. Just jump! Just start what you want to start. Don’t worry about the people you will disappoint, don’t worry about failing, don’t worry about the competition. It will always be there, its just a matter of getting your space with it.

Andrew
