Moving Day

Leave a comment Standard

Today is moving day. I’m always conflicted about moving because a part of me is excited and another part of me gets stressed out – haha. Actually today we are not moving very far. We will still be residing just outside of Chicago. We have already seen our new campground and t is really nice, but the only thing I am not looking froward to is how close all the RVs are to one another. At our current camp site we have a lot of space – it’s nice! One really cool thing though is that at the new RV park we will be just a few feet from a small lake. I love being near water, so that makes me happy. Being at our new campground will make things easier for us because we can walk to the yoga studio we teach at. We are also closer to grocery stores and gas stations.

We have two months left in Illinois. After that we will continue heading west. We know Missouri is our next stop, but after that we don’t know. Most likely we will end up in the southwest to avoid the cold weather during fall / winter. Although I have seen parts of the Grand Canyon, exploring the southwest will be pretty much a new experience for me.

Speaking of new experiences, yesterday we went to a car show yesterday which was fun. Got to meet a lot of cool people. The did a cruise around the town so I was able to get some good footage of it. Today is the second day of the show, but because we have to pack up and move, I’m not sure how much of the show we will even be able to see. I posted just a few pictures on our facebook page and will be posting the video soon from yesterday so go ahead and check out YouTube channel in the next few days.

I have experimented in the past with taking breaks from social media. It’s nice. I’m starting to feel it is time to do that again. But, um, Andrew… you are in the process of building your brand USING social media.

This is very true. I won’t be really stepping away from social media, but I will be stepping away from my personal accounts. I will still be actively posting on our business accounts. It’s just too much having both. I catch myself just scrolling through the various platforms and wasting a lot of time. Time is important to me. That is time I could be resting, meditating, going for a walk, reading a book…

I love social media. It makes it easier to connect. But, it is also a lot of noise. Noise I just don’t have time for now. Teaching, making videos, photography, practicing vocals, setting up events for Souls Gone Wild, focusing on my health – that is where I need more of my energy at.

I have created a new daily routine for myself and in some ways I am having success and in other ways I’m failing miserably – haha. I’m committed though. It’s going to take me some time to breakthrough and make this work and I’m okay with that. Most of my life I have been a night owl. I remember in college I got most of my writing done late at night when most people were out partying. As I get older though I like the idea of waking up early before most people and getting a bunch of tasks accomplished. I’ve noticed that if I push things off for later in the day, I usually won’t get to it.

I have a love /  hate relationship with technology, the internet and social media. It can be very helpful but also time wasting and addictive. So as far as my personal accounts go, I’m stepping away. Phew! I feel better already. Souls Gone Wild will still be on social media. The blogs, the pictures, videos and events will still be shared 🙂

Raise your Flag

I have a anarchy tattoo on my face and my wife cusses like a sailor. We are a little edgy and I like that about us. After all, our brand name is – Souls Gone Wild. We decided to create our own unique path and here we are, traveling and teaching in a RV. This blog may offend people, but the intention is to bring inspiration. My eBook, Slaves to Society, is designed to light people up. It is suppose to get you thinking  about what you want to pursue and why you aren’t going after it. But yeah, it is very raw and vulgar. I just started a new book which will be about our adventures on the road. That too, will be filled with sarcasm, humor, creativity and vulgarity. Eventually I would like to create a book on meditation and most may think that it should be very proper, clean and professional. Nope, I will also keep it real with that too. There are plenty of boring books on spirituality already out there.

I think people appreciate realness, but I do recognize with my voice and content, people will either love it or hate it and I am completely okay with it. I don’t create for others. I create for myself. That is how I keep myself happy. Look at music. Bands evolve over time and so can their style. Fans tend to get upset about this, but in the end it is the musicians music, not the fans. There will always be someone who will love your art and those who will hate it.

I have a great affinity for self expression and embracing my identity. One of the best feelings I can’t think of is being myself. Often I’ve felt that I’ve had to tune everything down. Well, it is time to turn up the volume! It’s time to raise the flag on the pirate ship and show who I really am. Some might think, geez Andrew, are you coming out of the closet or something? Haha – no. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but no, I’ve just always felt I couldn’t be intense, or edgy or say what is on my mind. I’ve felt that I’ve had to hold it all back. That my friends is not healthy. Hoist your freak flag and be proud of you, and those that don’t like it – fuck em.

What picture would you paint?

Leave a comment Standard

It has almost been a month and a half since we have been in New Jersey and I must say I am ready to move on. I think two weeks is my ideal time to stay in one place, but a month is the max for me. What can I say, I like to keep moving. For example, I worked a seasonal job in Colorado and it was amazing. The place and the people were great, but by the time we left, I was ready to move on.

We have a few more things lined up here in NJ such as another Cape May visit, Stone Harbor and more yoga videos to shoot. After that we hit the road. To be honest I am excited to get out west. I have always been drawn towards it and really like the energy. I also like warm weather.

This experience has been great so far, but it is also very bizarre. I can feel everyones energy. When are you going to settle down? When are you going to get “real jobs?” When are you going to buy a house? When are you going to have children? I feel the demands and expectations for someone who is married and in their early 30’s.

I would be deeply sad if I did not see the world. You see I’m not afraid of the world. I think it is incredible. I like the idea of exploring others cultures because I have an affinity for new experiences, but also to really see what a place is like. Sometimes I think the television paints fear over certain countries, cultures and groups of people and I just don’t buy it.

I’m going to travel this world; one state a time, one country at a time, one continent at at time. I’m going to document it through writing, film and music. I don’t care if it takes my entire life.

Life to me is not what my parents say it is. It’s not what the church says, nor is it what my teachers have told me. It is not written in a book. My friends all over the country don’t have the answer. I hold the paint brush, I paint the pictures. This is my life.

My words may be disappointing, but also may be inspiring. I have to ask though, do you have control of your paint brush? What colors would you paint with? What picture would you paint? What would your life look like?

Andrew

What’s in your Bucket List?

Leave a comment Standard

In less than a month we will be leaving New Jersey and heading north. It has been an interesting first month living in our RV full time. We have experienced the stress of travel, already made repairs on the RV, defused the fears around wireless internet and dealt with barking dogs. Luckily the poor dogs were taken away by animal control, so they can actually be properly cared for. After a long stretch of rain we found a leak, but sealed it up and took care of it. The internet is not as bad as I thought as it would be. Sure, it can be annoying to be limited and can be slow when uploading digital content, but overall I am happy with it. I’m also happy overall with the entire RV experience. I don’t mind living in a small space. I feel more like myself and my relationship with my wife is better than ever. We have brought back the adventurous spirit we had when we first met. It was all we ever talked about; traveling here, traveling there, traveling everywhere. A few years went by and we ended up doing just the opposite. Now though, we are doing exactly what we intended from the beginning!

Crossing off bucket list experiences is important to us. When it comes to your bucket list, I think you have to be a little selfish. You have to give yourself permission and believe in yourself. People will tell you that you can’t, usually because they didn’t take the necessary steps to cross off experiences on their bucket list. When you pursue goals and dreams it lights people up. They either become angry or they become inspired. I always hope people become inspired.

Experiences are what motivate me. They are my motivation to be healthy and they are what keep me alive. My bucket list experiences are not a maybe, they are a “I have to.” I strongly value experiences more than physical objects I desire. Sure I would love to own a ’69 SS Camaro, but if I never end up getting one I am not going to cry on my death bed about it. Now if I am in the process of dying and I didn’t see the great wall of China or the Pyramids, I’m going to be a little upset. Can you have it all? I think it is very possible, but for now I’m just going to focus on what is in my bucket list.

Landmarks, national parks, monuments, highways, airports, trains, foreign countries, RV parks, music, comedy, poetry, creative writing, film and businesses. Thats whats in my bucket list. My bucket is the reason I wake up everyday. It is what keeps my hungry.
What makes you hungry? What is in your bucket list?

Rings of Creativity

Leave a comment Standard

The energy rains down upon me
Channels turn to powerful golden rivers
and there is no stopping me
I’m a creator, born to create
Born to express myself
Born to inspire
Heal myself and others will heal themselves
Climb my mountains and others will climb theirs
This purpose drives me
My survival spins with motivation
My heart runs on passion
Creativity from other life-times gathered up
To build a remarkable life, this life…
What an exciting time, to be alive
And alive I am, no longer hovering
My rings of creativity, vibrating
Singing their tune for me
And I drink the gold, I am a machine
Creativity pours from me
I write, I write and I write
Won’t you align?
Won’t you find?
What drives you…
What inspires you…
Won’t you meet the Earth
And bring heaven with you
playing the drums in your heart
and staring out your eyes at this vicious and beautiful world
Won’t you?

the Book that Changed Everything

Leave a comment Standard

It wasn’t until my second semester at Columbia College Chicago that my roommate opened up to me about spirituality. I learned that he took some classes out in California on meditation. I was really interested in everything that he shared, so he let me borrow a book that would change everything. The book is called, “You Are the Answer,” by Michael Tamura. Michael is a clairvoyant, healer and spiritual teacher. The book has all to do with the title.

This is the type of book you can read, put back on the shelf and a few years later pick back up and learn something new, or at the very least, remind yourself of something important. Reading this book for me was the beginning of me waking up. I actually remember crying while reading this book. I don’t think I have ever cried reading a book before.

At the end of the book there are basic exercises that you can do. My roommate was already familiar with them and helped guide me through them. Most likely after seeing how much I was into it all, my roommate setup an appointment for us to get aura readings. I never had a reading before, but I had an open mind. The reading I got was accurate, but I was almost more interested in how they did that… That is when I learned that you could take meditation, healing and clairvoyant classes at this school. And that is exactly what I did.

The funny thing is that the director of the psychic school I went to actually knew Michael Tamura. They both learned from the same spiritual teacher. The exercises in the back of “You are the Answer,” were also taught at the school I went to. It’s like that book was a stepping stone, an introduction. Moving to Chicago, meeting my roommate, reading this book and going to a psychic school had a huge impact on me. I learned a lot about who I am and learned how to heal myself. These are tools I will use the rest of my life.

If you are interested in meditation, healing or clairvoyance, I would highly recommend checking this book out. Here is the link: You Are the Answer
