Moving Day

Today is moving day. I’m always conflicted about moving because a part of me is excited and another part of me gets stressed out – haha. Actually today we are not moving very far. We will still be residing just outside of Chicago. We have already seen our new campground and t is really nice, but the only thing I am not looking froward to is how close all the RVs are to one another. At our current camp site we have a lot of space – it’s nice! One really cool thing though is that at the new RV park we will be just a few feet from a small lake. I love being near water, so that makes me happy. Being at our new campground will make things easier for us because we can walk to the yoga studio we teach at. We are also closer to grocery stores and gas stations. 

We have two months left in Illinois. After that we will continue heading west. We know Missouri is our next stop, but after that we don’t know. Most likely we will end up in the southwest to avoid the cold weather during fall / winter. Although I have seen parts of the Grand Canyon, exploring the southwest will be pretty much a new experience for me. 

Speaking of new experiences, yesterday we went to a car show yesterday which was fun. Got to meet a lot of cool people. The did a cruise around the town so I was able to get some good footage of it. Today is the second day of the show, but because we have to pack up and move, I’m not sure how much of the show we will even be able to see. I posted just a few pictures on our facebook page and will be posting the video soon from yesterday so go ahead and check out YouTube channel in the next few days.

Why Meditate?

Tonight I will be teaching the first class of my six week meditation series. The topics for the class tonight will be learning about the aura, chakras, grounding and replenishment. To me, the first class is probably the most important class because you are learning how to get your body safe, become more present and have a way to release unwanted energy. 

The way I see things is that everything in the universe is energy. Energy is always passing through us. On occasion we resist an energy and it gets stuck. How does that affect you over time if you don’t clear it? One thing I can say is that you will have a little less space for you and your energy. The more space you have for yourself can have a big impact on how you feel.  The more of your own energy you have available to you, the more you can do and the more you can create. When your energy is in movement, things will feel like they are working just fine. When your energy is stuck or you are just operating on someone elses energy, then perhaps things might feel a bit off. 

What is the point of meditation? Well, to me, meditation is the act in which there is open dialogue between the three aspects of the soul; the feeling self, reasoning self and higher-self. What would happen if all the aspects of your soul were communicating and on the same page? How would your life start to change? Why are you here on this planet with this body? You have this amazing vehicle to experience life with. What do you truly want to experience in life? What are your dreams?

The art of meditation I series is all about setting up your meditation space. It helps you get safe and connected to your truth. There are tools that can help you get unstuck and also help you turn down the distractions so you can begin to feel, hear, see and know your energy and truth. 

I dare ask you, what if your life was a reflection of your immortal self?

Starting Yoga

The first time I tried yoga was in college. I think I did it maybe one more time after and that was it. It just wasn’t really my thing. I did, however, get into meditation. I really enjoyed it and it seemed to come natural for me. Eventually I started teaching meditation and one of the places I taught a series at was a yoga studio. The owner was trying to get me to take a class and I just wasn’t having it. I already tried it and it just wasn’t for me.

Aside from the not feeling yoga the first time around, I’ve always had a strong resistance to it. If I was going to do something physical I preferred going for a run or throwing some gloves on and hitting a bag. Now that my wife is teaching yoga, I have seen how it has impacted her, not just physically, but her energy as well. I see a stronger woman, all around. Lately, she has been teaching me yoga and yesterday was the first day I felt strong. It felt good, but that is not how I was feeling the first few times she taught me. My body felt very uncomfortable and oddly enough I was getting really angry. Most of the time it would subside and I would feel more at peace at the end.

Aside from flexibility, strength and balance, I see yoga as a way of moving out pain and foreign energy to bring your own energy in to replace it. Essentially you are going deeper into your body. As I am getting more accustom to yoga I am able to use my clairvoyance with it. It will be interesting to see what chakras are impacted by certain poses that we do.

Starting yoga was not something I expected, but that seems to be a theme in my life as of lately. It’s nice to be able to not only surprise others, but surprise yourself. I just want to continue to become more healthy and to get better at being present.

Living Healthy

What does it mean to live healthy? When I was younger, it wasn’t something I thought about. Fast food, soda, junk food, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs – I knew exactly what it meant to live unhealthy. As I got older I slowly purged the poisons that I put in my body. It wasn’t until about a year ago when I took my health much more serious. I’m far from perfect and I don’t even believe in perfection, but I do believe I can always improve. I need to be more consistent with my workouts, stretching and water intake. 

As I continue to take my health more seriously, I do ponder on what it really means to live a healthy life. I don’t have the answer for others, but I do have an idea what may work for me. I think health is more than just your physical health. I think living a  healthy life encompasses all aspects of your life. How does working a job you despise affect your body, mind, emotions and relationships? How does being in a negative relationship or non supportive community affect your overall wellness? What if you struggle expressing yourself and end up suppressing everything? How does a negative perspective on your identity, body image, society and the world impact your health? How does not knowing you truth affect your health and your life?

So yes, I do think health goes beyond the physical. For me, I think working a job you enjoy is important. If you are dedicating most of your time to earning money, then you might as well enjoy it, right? I think that being happy is apart of being healthy. When you are happy, there is permission for spirit. Your body runs best on your energy. When you are happy, you tend to be more present. I think health is all about being present and aware; knowing the right food to eat, the best exercise regiment for you, the right amount of sleep, etc. 

The more present I become the less tolerant I am of toxicity. I don’t have time for negative people or negative environments. What I do have time for is love and purpose. It sounds like some hippy shit, but it can be difficult to maintain a healthy body and push for your dreams. Sometimes you have to eliminate what isn’t working so you can focus your energy on what is best for you. 

Getting grounded, developing a stronger relationship with my body and connecting more to my purpose is what is best for me. That is how I continue to become more aware and more healthy.
